How Passion Seperates Your Brand From the Competition With Lisette Scott
Oct 22, 2020 Season 1 Episode 9
Victoria Taylor

We get discouraged to pursue the things we want in life because we're on the fence with our dreams. Maybe it seems too saturated and we don't know how to approach?

When passion, creativity and your intentions can help you make your brand In-Demand.

Today's In-Demand podcast guest shares how she uses culture and her love of her family heritage to craft an unforgettable brand and business.

In episode 9, Victoria Taylor talks with Lisette Scott, the Designer and Founder of Jam+Rico.  She created Jam + Rico to dive deeper into her love of designing and the Caribbean. Her jewellery brand was featured in Magazines like Essence and Vogue to name a few.

Growing up, she was always influenced by her culture. With immigrant grandparents from both islands Jamaica and Puerto Rico. The most prominent inspirations were food and music in my home. A little salsa and reggae with a mix of arroz con pollo, pastelles, jerk and curry were favorites and loves within my home.

Once she got older and was able to travel to both islands, the fascination and love of her heritage grew even stronger. The colors, carnivals, art, beaches and language all inspired her  to create and design. That’s when she knew she needed to design to bring her closer to the cultural connection of her ancestors.
